I’ve been a bad blogger recently. It’s that time of year when the weather makes location photography difficult and I turn my attention to other things. Of course, I still manage the occasional outdoor shoot, but for the most part I’m shooting indoors, filling print orders, making up samples, meeting wedding clients and the odd bit of commercial work. I quite enjoy the change of pace and the variety of work that winter brings.
So instead of my usual portrait photography, I thought I’d share a couple of other things…
Firstly, if you’re a bride (or groom) and haven’t heard about this – the new Limestone Coast Wedding Directory – you’re in for a treat. This website is destined for greatness and I’m certain it will be a massive boost to local wedding vendors here in Mount Gambier & the South East. I’m a big believer in the shop local philosophy (for obvious reasons! lol) and the very clever people running this site have some great planning resources for couples as well. If you’re a wedding supplier, get on-board and if you’re a bride or groom and notice that your suppliers are not listed, give them a little nudge as the benefits will be well worth the effort!
And secondly, I had the privelege of photographing the newly opened Customs House B&B – http://www.thecustomshouse.com.au. This place is amazing…really amazing. The hosts have done an incredible job and have thought of everything. For those of you that haven’t heard of Customs House, it is located in Port MacDonnell and although this is the time of year that we tend not to think of heading to the beach, I couldn’t think of anything better than sitting by the fire and listening to that ocean rolling in.
If you’re planning a wedding, you may also like to consider Customs as a ceremony/reception venue. I’ve photographed a number of wedding in and around Customs House and love it. The light is beautiful and the variety that it offers (photography-speaking) is brilliant. The beach & jetty are just across the road and if you book the whole venue, you will have the option of shooting amongst the beautifully decorated interior. If I were getting hitched, it’d definitely be my first choice for both the ceremony and the reception and the honeymoon!
