I had the privilege of photographing another truly lovely couple, but this time amongst the picturesque landscape of Naracoorte. It was a gorgeous day…a little chilly, but the rain stayed away and the cloud cover kept me completely happy for the duration of the day. The couple chose to have their images taken prior to their late afternoon ceremony. The bride got herself ready at the beautiful Carolynne’s Cottages (http://www.carolynnescottages.com.au/) and we remained there for the couple’s ‘first look’ and bride & groom’s session. From there it was off to the stunning Naracoorte Town Hall for both the ceremony and the reception immediately afterwards. I must say at this point, that the staff at the Town Hall were just lovely and made things so easy for me and all the guests.

So without further ado…

I {love} this next set of images…the groom’s first look at his soon-to-be-wife! I love the expression of anticipation on both of their faces. What a beautiful moment it was for me to witness and capture!

Thank you to everyone involved in this exquisite wedding day and especially Tanya & Quentin, the VERY happy couple! It was a fabulous day and I was thrilled to be a part of it. Have the BEST honeymoon and I will be in touch soon with the rest of your day’s images.

I almost forgot this one! Not because I don’t love these images (of course), but because I kept them to myself in an effort not to spoil this couple’s post wedding cocktail party slideshow. That party has long since been enjoyed and it is well and truly safe to share these (some of my all-time favourite) images with YOU.

This wedding took place over the border at the lovely Port Fairy. The reception and ceremony were held at the Douglas On River and the bride’s makeup was expertly applied by the amazing Mel Von Stanke of Vanity. Whilst capturing the wedding I got to experience some of the most beautiful locations I’ve seen, from the simple marina and breakwater to this amazing laneway I found quite by accident…I literally made a wrong turn and discovered this beautifully overgrown, lush green road. Exquisite. If you’re planning a location wedding, please take a leaf out of this couple’s book and consider Port Fairy!

And here they are – a bumper collection of some of my all-time favourite wedding images of this season:

I mentioned that these are some of my favourite wedding images and I can’t leave you all without explaining why. It isn’t just that I love the images themselves, but I truly felt so at home in the company of these two amazing people and their friends & family. They trusted me…completely. They allowed me an honest look into their lives together and never once did I feel like I was intruding. They are two of the loveliest people I’ve met and it truly was a privilege to spend a weekend capturing their treasured memories. I wish you both every possible happiness in your new lives together!

Wow! It has been a mammoth wedding season for me and I have been so privileged to capture so many beautiful moments. It is both humbling and incredibly rewarding to think that people pay me to do what I love doing most (second only to hanging out with my family of course!). I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…”I love my job!” I really do.

Kym & Courtney’s big day sees the end of my weekly wedding blitz…I have more weddings to cover throughout the remainder of the year, but with a free weekend or two in between them now!

As you can see, Kym and Courtney brought their sense-of-humour with them on this particular occasion. We all laughed. A lot. And I had a blast trying out a few ideas I had yet to use this season. It was a fabulous day filled with bucket loads of love and joy. Thank you so much for having me along for the ride, Kym & Courtney. xo

Their choices were amazing:

Hair: Red Ivie
Make-up: Mel Von Stanke of Vanity Beauty
Flowers: The Flower Shop
Ceremony: St Andrews Uniting Church, Mt Gambier
Reception: The Lakes Resort

There just aren’t enough adjectives in the dictionary to describe how beautiful Michael & Marie’s wedding was! It had everything I love in a wedding; heart-warming emotion, beautiful details, a stunning bride and the most amazing locations. And although the heavens opened up a few times throughout the day, the happy couple weren’t fazed at all. It truly was a wedding to remember!

Ceremony: The Presbyterian Church, Mt Gambier
Flowers: The Flower Shop
Cars: Courtesy of friends and the groom.
Reception: The Barn, Palais

The bride arrived home from the salon to find these beautiful roses on her doorstep. Such a sweet moment!

As you can see from all the photos I’ve shared here…it really was a struggle narrowing down the best images to share. It really was a stunning day and I felt very honoured to share it with you both. I wish the two of you every happiness in your new lives together.

Greg & Emily were married in style and elegance! I loved the bold colours and the Emily’s unique sense of flair and fun in all the details that were chosen. Her amazing flowers were created by Hayley of The Flower Shop, the bridesmaids dresses were tailored by Emily’s very clever Mum, the stunning garden ceremony was located in Sherrifmuir Gardens and the reception was held at the Commodore On The Park. Everything was just magnificent and Emily…you looked stunning! Thank you for letting me tag along on your all-important day – I had SO much fun capturing you and your whole bridal party. Congratulations on your newly married status and enjoy every little bit of your new lives together.

It never ceases to amaze me the amount of joy that a wedding can bring. These guys were over-the-moon excited and ridiculously happy the whole entire day. It was completely infectious. Everyone that attended had a huge smile on their face, including me. The ceremony itself was about the most fun a wedding can get with bucket loads laughter & only the odd tear – I could go on for hours about how beautiful this couple couple are, inside and out. Seriously…it was a wonderful day and I was made to feel just like one of the family.

Thank you so much for including me in your day. I enjoyed it no end and look forward to catching up with you again to plan your album and other goodies. Enjoy every minute of your newly married lives together.

I have yet another fabulous wedding to share with all of you. Something different and absolutely unique…

Anthony & Jen’s beautiful wedding just happened to occur on one of Mt Gambier’s particularly rare extremely sunny days & these guys were amazingly patient as we searched for every shady nook that exists in our humble city! There were so many gorgeous details and let me tell you, this bride (also a talented Milliner) created many of her day’s elements completely from scratch, including the head pieces, bouquets and the beautiful blossoms painstakingly hand stitched to her gorgeous dress. But enough of my ramblings…photos!

Thank you Anthony & Jen for allowing me to be a part of your day & for all the extra effort that you went to for the amazing tiger moth. If the owner of that fantastic machine happens to read this blog, thank you, thank you, thank you – for allowing us to use it. And all the guys at the airport who played a part it making it happen…thank YOU also!

I hope you enjoy these images A & J.

Hayley + Nathan…

March 7, 2010

I am definitely in the midst of some mind-blowing weddings this season! Every wedding I capture seems to inspire and amaze me with a unique new detail or idea or colour palette. And this wedding was no exception. It was simply exquisite & the bride was bursting with elegance and style. I thoroughly enjoyed capturing this wedding and loved every moment I spent with this adorable couple.

And simply because I know that this particular bride is a fan of all things elegant and graceful, let me leave you with a favourite quote:
“The best thing to hold onto in life is each other!” ~Audrey Hepburn

Thanks for allowing me a little window into your lives on this very special day. I truly hope these images are something you can treasure and enjoy for many, many years to come.

Joni + Joel | Feb 2010

February 28, 2010

I knew this wedding would be something really special…mostly because the bride is a friend of mine and I know she has exquisite taste. Everything was perfect and so uniquely ‘them’! It was a joy to spend the day capturing this gorgeous couple and all the details they planned.

And, I can’t help but share this little story…while I was waiting for the bride outside the church I met this really lovely lady who is a long-time friend of the family and watched the bride grow-up. She spent some time telling me about the bride’s childhood and how even from an early age Joni was ever the kind-hearted and beautiful soul that she is today. She explained that there are very few people left in the world that sincerely love their family with all their heart, that are always open to making new friends and who genuinely always see the best in people – that is Joni. She is beautiful inside and out & I am thrilled that her day was the fairytale that she so deserves. And the groom…well, isn’t he just the luckiest man in the world! He is a great guy who honestly deserves and needs this amazing person in his life.

I wish both of you the best that this world has to offer and look forward to watching your marriage grow!
