There is nothing more appealing to me than that perfect balance of a great location, a loving & happy family and beautifully behaved, adventurous kids! I had an absolute blast capturing this family on their amazing property. The weather was divine and the kids were so much fun. It really was a beautiful shoot and the only downside was attempting to narrow down their collection of images to a reasonable number!

Seriously…thank YOU! I felt very welcome in your home and your kids were amazing. It was such a pleasure.

I was lucky enough to photograph this gorgeous little girl once before @ Wireless Road Local Kids and I was so pleased when I met this family and realised it was the same little cutie. She just oozes personality this little one and I could tell that she has Mum and Dad completely besotted.

Thanks so much for spending the morning with me and allowing me to capture your beautiful little family. It was a pleasure!

The Dowdy Family | 2010

June 27, 2010

Mount Gambier has surprised me with some pretty reasonable weather lately…not a single shoot rained out! I anticipated that this one would be a close call, but the rain did hold out long enough for me to enjoy a relaxed session with this lovely family.

Thanks so much for braving the winter chill to hang out with me and my camera for the morning. It was such a pleasure capturing you and your adorable girls.

I really love this time of year; the colours, the leaves, the cloud cover – all of which make capturing families such a joy. This little family are truly lovely and wow…do their kids have amazing eyes and lashes! So gorgeous and such a pleasure to be around. Thank you for a lovely session around one of my favourite parts of Mt Gambier.

Cheers,

I had the privilege of photographing another truly lovely couple, but this time amongst the picturesque landscape of Naracoorte. It was a gorgeous day…a little chilly, but the rain stayed away and the cloud cover kept me completely happy for the duration of the day. The couple chose to have their images taken prior to their late afternoon ceremony. The bride got herself ready at the beautiful Carolynne’s Cottages (http://www.carolynnescottages.com.au/) and we remained there for the couple’s ‘first look’ and bride & groom’s session. From there it was off to the stunning Naracoorte Town Hall for both the ceremony and the reception immediately afterwards. I must say at this point, that the staff at the Town Hall were just lovely and made things so easy for me and all the guests.

So without further ado…

I {love} this next set of images…the groom’s first look at his soon-to-be-wife! I love the expression of anticipation on both of their faces. What a beautiful moment it was for me to witness and capture!

Thank you to everyone involved in this exquisite wedding day and especially Tanya & Quentin, the VERY happy couple! It was a fabulous day and I was thrilled to be a part of it. Have the BEST honeymoon and I will be in touch soon with the rest of your day’s images.

You probably recognise this family…they are one of my regular clients! The great thing about regulars is that I get to see their kids grow up and their kids become accustomed to me and my warped sense of humour. More importantly though, they get used to my big, fat camera always pointing in their general direction!

This little man in particular, has grown so much and is much more at ease with me and my camera. He was a.m.a.z.i.n.g. – really. Not at all the shy little man that he was when I first began taking his photos well over a year ago. It was such an easy session with all the credit going to his fabulous parents who are doing a great job of raising these three perfectly gorgeous children.

Thanks once again, guys! It was a pleasure.

boys…

May 22, 2010

Those who know me, know I have two daughters. My life is filled with flowers, rainbows, tiaras and pink sparkly things. This family…well, lets just say we have little in common in that respect! These four boys are just gorgeous though…completely sweet and everything a parent could want in boisterous, handsome young sons! I had a great time hanging out with them, although I must brush up on things that make boys laugh cause apparently I didn’t do so well – Mum knew just the trick though and was a master at getting her little men to smile!

Thank you for being so fabulous to work with. All of you! I had a blast.

I almost forgot this one! Not because I don’t love these images (of course), but because I kept them to myself in an effort not to spoil this couple’s post wedding cocktail party slideshow. That party has long since been enjoyed and it is well and truly safe to share these (some of my all-time favourite) images with YOU.

This wedding took place over the border at the lovely Port Fairy. The reception and ceremony were held at the Douglas On River and the bride’s makeup was expertly applied by the amazing Mel Von Stanke of Vanity. Whilst capturing the wedding I got to experience some of the most beautiful locations I’ve seen, from the simple marina and breakwater to this amazing laneway I found quite by accident…I literally made a wrong turn and discovered this beautifully overgrown, lush green road. Exquisite. If you’re planning a location wedding, please take a leaf out of this couple’s book and consider Port Fairy!

And here they are – a bumper collection of some of my all-time favourite wedding images of this season:

I mentioned that these are some of my favourite wedding images and I can’t leave you all without explaining why. It isn’t just that I love the images themselves, but I truly felt so at home in the company of these two amazing people and their friends & family. They trusted me…completely. They allowed me an honest look into their lives together and never once did I feel like I was intruding. They are two of the loveliest people I’ve met and it truly was a privilege to spend a weekend capturing their treasured memories. I wish you both every possible happiness in your new lives together!

softly lit…

May 18, 2010

On my way back from this morning’s family session I stopped to capture a little bit of beauty…

I’m no landscape photographer & I totally take my hat off to those that are, but I recently attended a photography seminar where the presenter (one of the top ten photographers in the world) encouraged us portrait and wedding photographers to develop other genres. The idea being that all the tricks and skills learned in other fields of photography can only make you better at what you do. So there it is…my new found desire to become a better landscape photographer! I don’t think I’ll be setting my alarm clock for 4am any time soon though! lol.

I arrived at this lovely family’s home with a Post-It note attached to my rear-end…after I got over that (lol) we stepped outside to this amazing fog and beautiful diffused light. The boys clearly felt very much at home on the farm and capturing them couldn’t have been easier or more fun. You may recognise them in fact – they’ve featured on my blog quite a few times now. I love watching these little guys grow and love that I get to capture a little family history for this wonderful, farming family.

Thank you for allowing me into your home and your lives guys! See you next time.
